The tradition of giving gifts to wedding guests originated in France. Bomboniere (or favors as they are also known) are small gifts traditionally given at a Wedding by the Bride and Groom.
These days, bombonieres are seen at all sorts of celebrations such as Baby showers, 50th’s, 60th’s, 80th as well as Christenings, Communion, Baptism and so on. Whilst they are by no means compulsory, they’re a small gesture to say thank you for coming to the celebration and especially to thank guests who may have travelled a long way to attend the celebration.
